the wastelands…

Been working on a few stock photos these last days. Kept coming across ugly things that I seem to like taking pictures of.

Had some thunderstorms pass over the other night, but alas, I was not with my camera at the time, nor at home. After about 15 minutes of seeing some of the most spectacular lightning I’ve ever seen (coming from Santa Barbara we get lightning like what, once every three years.), I decide I need to stop what I was doing and get to my camera. So I bolted out the door and ran through awful rain, black skies and streaks of lightning all around; Arriving completely soaked. Would have been some cool shots of lightning over the church tower, but by this time, the storm had passed for the most part, and was now in the distance…

Down South, Up North

Took a little roadtrip to the French Riviera last week, what a beautiful place. On Wednesday I’m leaving the warm temps of spring and heading off into the cold of the Norwegian arctic.

only a couple pics for now…

Return of Winter

Seems winter decided to make a final appearance during the last week, but a few days of snow and cold was all it was able to muster. Even Mr. stork has returned. And how long the days are getting once again!

Czech Sojourn

I forgot to mention that I spent some time in Czech (not Prague) a few weeks ago. So much cool old stuff to wander around and look at. On a Sunday when I arrived, the streets were nearly empty and I thought I had come to some ghost town. I would spend hours a day sitting in this cool teahouse, just reading or talking or relaxing. Nights were often late and mornings too soon to arrive. It was a good place to relax after the noise and crowds of Vienna.

Germany: War in the Forest

Boom!… Boom, Boom, Boom! rat, tat tat tat tat… As large explosions shake the earth then the rattle of machine gun fire fill the silence. Interesting background noise as I’m wandering in a dark and foggy forest on the border of a US military weapons range. It’s 9:00 at night right now, and I can still hear the explosions in the distance; sounds a bit like thunder…

Hittin’ the Road Again

This may be my last post for a bit, as I’m off traveling again. I think I will head north, though nothing is written in stone. I just came to the realization that I haven’t seen the ocean in over 2 months; the longest period in my entire life. I can hear the sea calling my name and to her I must go, I think. Here’s a few random photos in the meantime.

24mm Auckland

Due to a multitude of things, including but not limited to: my laziness, bad weather, not liking big cities, and crowds. I decided Auckland would be best observed from 24mm (x1.5)
